The Personnel and Training Manager acts as the shipboard Human Resources representative. This position is responsible for providing leadership in the development and implementation of strategic employee relations activities, as well as leading the onboard training function.
Duties and responsibilities:
- Manage and influence proactive employee relations strategy
- Assist in resolving conflict between supervisors and their subordinates as situations dictate
- Maintain a positive work environment
- Assist with the distribution of any relevant
Company communication as necessary, and in a timely and appropriate manner
- Work with Heads of Department to ensure proper procedures are followed during the disciplinary process
- Offer guidance, through training to supervisors and managers, on Code of Conduct violations, as they relate to written and verbal warnings
- Attend disciplinary hearings, providing support and recommendations
- Work to resolve employee concerns in regard to: job conditions, investigating discrimination and harassment complaints and following up in the investigation of allegations of employee misconduct
- Administer company service recognition program
- Present crew welfare issues, as needed, to ships senior management
- Assist with resolution of crew incidents and work closely with the shoreside Crew Incident Coordinator
- Member of cabin inspection team
- Oversee the shipboard welcoming process for new joiners
- Be available to officers and crew for support as required, in domestic and compassionate circumstances, as well as mediation of work-related problems
- Oversee onboard individual career development plan
- Provide management support in the form of training and counseling on proper discipline and development techniques
Experience in quality establishments and good knowledge of English are essential.
